In July 1886 the newspapers reported on the first public outing of the three-wheeled Benz Patent Motor Car, model no. 1 — a mere 6 months after filing the patent in January of that year. Since then the race has been on for the Bigger-Faster-Better-More product that has become a variety of symbols over the decades, with the C3 Corvette Stingray repeatedly stated as being purchased almost exclusively as a middle-age crisis mobile.
